The Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass

The Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass (usually known as the Glaziers Company) is one of the historic Livery Companies of the City of London.

The History of the Company

Although its origins can be traced back to the 14th Century, the Glaziers Company is as active as ever in promoting its craft through encouraging new artists and helping to restore and preserve the rich heritage of decorative glass in our churches and public buildings.

Membership in the Company

We are an open Company and membership does not require an direct involvement in the craft. We welcome new members and you can use this site to find out about the benefits and obligations of membership.

We also run an extensive programme of events including talks, lectures, lunches and visits, both overseas and in the UK, and we try to ensure that the social side of life in the Livery is given due prominence.

The majority of our members join because they have an interest in, and a love of, this most accessible and beautiful of art forms. We do, however, count many glass artists among our members, and you can see some of their work on this website, and, if you wish, enquire about commissioning work from them.

If you are interested in becoming a member please contact us.

The Stour Music Window, All Saints Church, Boughton Aluph, Kent

The window celebrates the fortieth anniversary of the Stour Music Festival and the life of its founder, the counter tenor Alfred Deller.

Patches of colour intermingle with fragments of medieval, renaissance and baroque music manuscripts to create a synaesthetic and multi-layered harmony.
