Adelle Corrin

Adelle Corrin died on 16 August 2011. As a tribute to her, and in recognition of all that she did for the Craft as the Company's Glass Information Officer and organiser of its Awards, this page, and the portfolios associated with it, will remain on the website.

Adelle Corrin began her study of stained glass through adult education in 1979.  She progressed to study at The City Lit under Amal Ghosh and then earned a Post Graduate Diploma from Central School of Art and Design in 1986, having studied there under both Patrick Reyntiens and Amal Ghosh.  She was elected to the professional qualification, Associate of The British Society of Master Glass Painters, AMGP, in 1986.

Adelle consistently gave back to the craft through teaching.  She taught at The City Lit 1986-1992, at Richmond Adult Education College of Art 1994-2004, at Central St.Martins College of Art and Design 1987-1999 and had also taught privately since 1992.  She had been a Member of Council of the British Society of Master Glass Painters for many years.  She was also the Glass Information Officer of The Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass and a Freeman of that Company.

“My work is primarily abstract, often abstracted through the process of drawing, painting and collaging based on observation of natural forms and landscape. I am fascinated by the qualities of this  transparent, light transmitting material and its ability to uplift and transform our experiences of building interiors.  I am excited to use ancient techniques in the creation of contemporary images.  I work both as a colourist and in monochrome.

Working primarily with mouthblown glasses, painting, staining, acid etching and sandblasting to form site specific and free-hanging pieces, I design and make windows for public and private buildings. My work is in numerous private collections.”
